TikTok has unveiled its first-ever NFT collection, TikTok Top Moments, with contributions from some of the app’s biggest creators.

Announced by the platform today, the six-piece NFT collection is inspired by trending videos created by Lil Nas X, Rudy Willingham, Bella Poarch, Curtis Roach, Brittany Broski, FNMeka, Jess Marciante and Gary Vaynerchuk. For the series, the TikTok creators partnered with NFT artists— including COIN ARTIST, x0r, RTFKT, Grimes and more — to recreate their content as limited edition NFTs artworks.

TikTok creator and digital artist Rudy Willingham had already used Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” to make a viral stop motion video when the song first dropped.

As the creator economy continues to grow, we’re continually looking for new and differentiated ways to support our creators,” explains Nick Tran, Global Head of Marketing at TikTok. “Now, fans can own a moment on TikTok that helped shape the internet while supporting some of their favorite creators. We’re excited to see how our community and NFT communities engage with some of the internet’s most beloved cultural milestones.”

Twitter previously launched a similar initiative in June, when it launched a collection of 140 NFTs matching its original character limit.

«Мы хотим помочь нашим пользователя получить признание и вознаграждение за свои видео, а фанатам — возможность стать владельцами культурно значимого контента на TikTok.» — говорится в сообщении.

Коллекция TikTok Top Moments состоит из шести культурно значимых видеороликов от самых популярных авторов. В их числе Lil Nas X, Rudy Willingham, Bella Poarch, Curtis Roach, Brittany Broski, FNMeka, Jess Marciante и Gary Vaynerchuk.

Next to get involved in the non-fungible-token NFT craze is TikTok. With the aim to reward creators for their content, TikTok is releasing an NFT collection featuring the app’s top moments. Collaborating with some of its most popular creators, the release gives fans the opportunity to own a piece of viral internet culture.

The first collaboration of the creator-led NFTs went on-sale on Wednesday October 6, featuring Lil Nas X and Rudy Willingham.

Lil Nas X’s Montero (Call Me By Your Name) has been a hit on TikTok ever since its release.

Joining in on the craze of Montero, creator Rudy Willingham made a stop motion video of the song.

Through this release, fans will have the opportunity to own a memento of their favourite TikTok. “NFTs are the new memorabilia, as testified by NBA cards. For years people collected anything they could, which brings them a little bit closer to their heroine and hero figures. Now we can add pocket money speculation into the mix, as it’s as much a contemporary version of autograph hunting as social media game play,” adds Hatjoullis.

“There’s a whole new generation of NFT artist and influencer collectors who are rapidly becoming very attractive to brands, in much the same way as Instagram and Youtube stars of recent years have become commodified,” Hatjoullis says.

Made available on Ethereum and generated by Immutable X, the NFTs will be carbon neutral, using leading-edge technology from blockchain software company StarkWare.

The TikTok shows Willingham’s signature cutouts against colourful backdrops to represent Pride Month and received over 15 million views.

Further drops will follow, with NFTs to include top TikTok creators Bella Poarch, Brittany Broski, Curtis Roach, FNMeka, Jess Marciante and Gary Vaynerchuk. The featured creators are partnered with NFT creators such as COIN ARTIST, x0r, Grimes, RTFKT and more.

From memes to TikTok moments, the monetising of internet culture through NFTs is ever evolving. “In one sense, the cultural significance of being able to monetise a meme means that agencies will now begin to attempt to amortise what has traditionally been a virally transmitted community endeavour, on behalf of corporate clients. Memes are set to start looking more expensive,” says Christos Hatjoullis, NFT artist and collector.
“On the other hand, meme art has taken on a new significance.

NFTs as a “creator empowerment tool” eh? That’s the pitch TikTok is making with the launch of its first collection of digital collectibles. Under the brand of TikTok Top Moments, they’re based on six “culturally significant TikTok videos” made by creators in the past.

Lil Nas X, Grimes and Bella Poarch are the standout names from the first crop, with the NFTs to be released in a mix of ‘one-of-one’ (only a single copy) items for auction, and limited-edition runs of other NFTs “at accessible price points”.

Buyers will need an Ethereum wallet to buy the NFTs, which are being sold in partnership with crypto firm Immutable.
